Science fiction has long predicted artificial voices and now they exist. Kindle's Text-to-Speech feature has been accepted as granting accessibility to books, but with increasingly good manipulation of artificial speech, how long before the line between audiobooks and printed books blurs indistinguishably? At what point does text-to-speech become a rights violation? What does the human voice bring to an audiobook?

With the advent of databases that encode "unique" voices and make them available for simulations, the future of artificially narrated audiobooks is on the horizon. Authors, agents, and narrators discuss the thorny issue of what to do as we approach that horizon.
